The Role of Media Literacy in Education

A world-class education system is still the best way to raise standards of living through global competitiveness — and a world-class system is characterized not just by high rates of high school and college graduation, but also by whether students are being prepared with the right set of content knowledge and skills to tackle a quickly changing world, and by the quality of educational outcomes. The payoffs for getting this balance right are monumental.

Program Design

Media literacy is not a new subject to teach. It’s a new way to teach all subjects! CML’s custom designed media literacy programs are flexible, modular systems that can be implemented into any curriculum, subject, or grade-level classroom. We provide busy educators with an engaging, evidence-based critical thinking tool that they can immediately and seamlessly implement in any classroom.

Teacher Training

CML’s two-day training enables teachers to master the fundamentals of media literacy education theory and practice. Educators gain practical, hands-on experience in designing media literacy activities, lesson plans and curricula that engage young minds and build critical thinking skills that are crucial in today’s complex and rapidly changing media environment.

One-to-One Teacher Coaching

CML associates work closely with teachers to guide them through the implementation of media literacy projects in their classrooms. Our in-depth coaching sessions help educators to integrate the power of CML’s framework into their students, enhancing student learning without adding to their already busy schedules.
